Blog Assignment #11

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt15659920/?ref_=ttep_ep10  For this assignment, I've watched 孤独のグルメ episode where the main character goes to Korea (Season 7 Episode 10). The show is about what the main character eats throughout his daily life. In this episode, he eats tteok-bokki and Korean pork rib. Watching the show made me extremely hungry and crave for Korean food. Unfortunately, I was unable to find any Korean place where I could go to satisfy my needs. I can't wait to return home for the winter break to enjoy the Korean food.

Blog assignment #9

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBI7UgUeVig  for this assignment, I watched the movie Pulse (2001). It was created by Kiyoshi Kurosawa who also made the movie Cure. The story of the movie goes like this: after college student Taguchi commits suicide, a number of young adults living in Tokyo witness terrifying visions transferred across the Internet. As more people disappear throughout the city, the Internet becomes a breeding ground for malevolent spirits. Three seemingly disconnected stories follow Michi, Ryosuke, and Harue as they attempt to solve the mystery behind the ghostly visions that are seeping beyond their computer monitors. It was a bit confusing to watch but overall, I enjoyed watching that movie.

Blog Assignment #7

This is another Japanese video-watching blog. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0178868/ For assignment #7, I watched Ringu (1998) with my friends. I was expecting a lot from the movie as I've heard that it is an iconic Japanese horror movie. Long story short, it was quite disappointing (Maybe because I knew what the ghost looked like).  Spoiler alert: the content of the movie and its ending are described below. The fact that the male main character is an esper who can see the past of things he touches just ruined the story for me as it just seemed like a convenient tool to make the story flow. Despite the fact that the movie was made two decades ago, it seemed to have lacked the suspense of a Japanese horror that I expected. There weren't enough visuals, nor a sense of horror that I could feel from the movie in general. Also, the ending was the open ending which is not my type either.  In general, it was nice watching the movie with my friends and enjoying the one jumpscare ...
